The Vintage group within the DelVal chapter was formed several years ago through the dedication of DelVal member Jonathan Blanc, whose efforts are truly appreciated. This group recognizes BMW’s roots and harkens back to a simpler time when an amateur mechanic could readily repair his/her Bimmer with simple skills and widely-available tools. In fact, many of the Club’s early meetings in the mid-1970’s were tech sessions where owners could learn how to work on and maintain their prized Bavarian autos.
A BMW must be at least 15 years old in order to be considered for the “Vintage” group, which is consistent with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s criteria to determine a “classic” vehicle. However, we are not sticklers about the age of your vintage BMW, as our primary desire is be as inclusive as possible for owners of older BMW’s to get together for a good time. The Vintage group is comprised of about 95 DelVal members and we encourage our friends from the Delaware Valley BMW Motorcycle Riders to join us for events.
We try to hold a variety of family-oriented events, including:
- Fun Rallies and Covered Bridge Tours
- Winery Tours
- Cruise Nights
- Deutsche Classic All-German Car and Motorcycle Show
- Vintage Airplane Fly-In
- New Hope Auto Show
- ‘Bikes, Blues and BMWs’ concert
- Visit to Maucher Custom Upholstery
- Visit to the Millville Army Air Field Museum and New Jersey Motorsport Park for the DelVal chapter BMW club race
As one can see, there is something to enjoy for all of the owners of older BMWs. We hope you will come out and join us!
